Faith Like Moses’ Mother | Trusting God With What You Love Most

This week we had the privilege of hearing from Tim Abe, who brought a powerful message on faith through the story of Moses’ mother in Exodus. While Moses is often remembered for leading Israel out of Egypt and witnessing incredible miracles, Tim reminded us that Moses’ story of faith actually began before he ever spoke to Pharaoh or parted the Red Sea. It began with the faith of his mother.

In a time when Pharaoh ordered every Hebrew baby boy to be killed, Moses’ mother chose courage over fear. She hid her son for as long as she could, but eventually she placed him in a basket and set him in the Nile. That moment was not an act of desperation. It was an act of faith. She trusted God with the very promise He had given her.

Tim illustrated this beautifully with the picture of a seed. God may give us a promise, but if we hold on to it too tightly and try to force it to happen in our own strength, we may never see it grow. A seed only becomes a tree when it is released into the ground. In the same way, faith often requires surrender. We must place what God has given us into His hands and trust that He will do what only He can do.

When Moses’ mother let go, God worked in ways she could never have orchestrated. Moses was not only saved, but he was raised in Pharaoh’s own household and positioned for the purpose God had planned for his life.

Faith does not mean striving harder to make God’s promises happen. Faith means trusting God enough to release the seed and believe that even when we cannot see it, He is working beneath the surface.

Sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply letting go and trusting God to make it grow.

Faith means trusting God enough to release the promise into His hands instead of trying to make it happen in your own strength.
