Faith Like Moses | Three Prayers That Change Everything

When I look at the life of Moses in Hebrews 11 and Exodus 33, there’s no shortage of miracles to talk about—burning bushes, parted seas, supernatural provision—but what grips me most isn’t the miracles, it’s the man behind them. Moses didn’t just experience what God could do, he pursued who God is. And I think that’s where real faith begins to mature. It’s easy to ask, “God, what should I do?” but deeper faith starts to ask, “God, how do You work? How do You think? What’s on Your heart?” Moses models this through three prayers that I believe change everything.

The first is simple but powerful: “Teach me Your ways.” Moses wasn’t asking for instructions, he was asking for understanding. There’s a difference. The people of Israel saw God’s acts, but Moses came to know His character. That kind of faith doesn’t come from surface-level spirituality, it comes from time in God’s Word, letting Him shape how you think and respond. When you know God’s ways, you don’t just follow rules—you begin to move in rhythm with Him.

The second prayer is this: “Go with us.” After Israel’s failure with the golden calf, God tells Moses they can still have the promise, but without His presence. And Moses refuses to move forward without God. Why? Because he understood something we often forget—the greatest blessing isn’t what God gives, it’s God Himself. You can have success, opportunity, even victory, and still miss the point if God’s presence isn’t with you. What sets God’s people apart has never been talent, resources, or influence—it’s His presence.

And finally, Moses prays, “Show me Your glory.” This is the cry of someone who isn’t satisfied with just getting by spiritually. He wanted more of God, more intimacy, more revelation. And that’s the invitation for us today—to move beyond surface-level faith and into a real, personal encounter with the living God.

If we want a faith like Moses, it starts here: not chasing miracles, but pursuing the God of the miracles.
